Reporting to the President & CEO of AECL, the Vice-President, Capital Program, Operations & Security Oversight will be accountable for providing oversight of all contractor activities related to the execution of the capital program and site operations, including security, as per AECL’s contractual agreements which defines CNL’s responsibilities with respect to the management of AECL’s sites. This includes providing oversight to ensure that appropriate investments are being made to support sustainable nuclear science and technology development and bring value for money for Canada, more broadly.
The Vice-President will provide the strategic direction and leadership in developing performance incentives, developing and monitoring performance metrics, and assisting in the assessment of performance for the execution of the capital program and ongoing site operations. The successful candidate will focus on the successful delivery of AECL’s mandate through the GoCo model.
As the ideal candidate, you bring a significant amount of experience in operations and construction/commissioning in the high hazard, highly regulated environments such as the nuclear industry. With an Engineering or Applied Science degree, you possess experience at the senior management level responsible for overseeing large-scale highly technical operations. A seasoned and respected leader, you bring experience in team and capacity development, have overseen contractors in performing work scope, and are known for your ability to partner effectively with them. Strong self-discipline, excellent organizational and negotiation skills, strong written and verbal communications skills and an unwavering commitment to quality and customer satisfaction are critical to success in this role. In addition, the successful candidate must have significant management and leadership skills to guide and develop the oversight team.
